All the NEWS
Dallas Texans Austin Parents and Players, I would like to update all of you on a couple of items. As some of you may have seen our Website and Club name have changed. As with all of the Dallas Texan Soccer Clubs, the Dallas name has been dropped. Our new Club name - The Austin Texans Soccer Club. We are still as much a part of the Dallas Texans. This was driven as the Dallas Texans continued to grow in locations that the Dallas part made little sense. As an example, The Dallas Texans Florida will now be the Florida Texans (still a little strange, but I guess better) and the Dallas Texans Tulsa (now the OK Texans Soccer Club) Over the next month or so, we will be adding a South location to the Austin Texans website. This will allow us to provide updates and information on what is going on there. A firm data has not been set at this time. Over the last three weeks, I have been able to have discussion about a special offering for Austin. The Manchester United Soccer Schools provided training in Dallas this year. These high level coaches were there for two weeks with half day sessions – morning & afternoon. I was very impressed with the training and requested consideration for a similar camp in Austin next year. As I got my idea in first, the Dallas Texans (Dallas) are working to have a one week camp in Austin in June of next year. This is a huge deal, assuming we can complete this, as this camp was only offered this year in Dallas, nowhere else in the US. I am pleased to announce several new additions to the board for the upcoming year. These additions include Mike Bradburn, Jennifer Birkenheiser, and Noel Gonsalvez. Mike will assist with field information, Jennifer fundraising, and Noel representing the new South area. These will be posted within the next few days. Thanks Dan Williams ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ron Rees Rest in Peace
Jan 16 2012 - Russell Putnam
The Dallas Texans were very sad to learn that youth soccer pioneer Roy Rees passed away on November 25, 2011. Roy was the first club director of the Houston Texans and was partly responsible for the huge growth of soccer in Houston in the mid 1980s. He also authored a best-selling book on soccer coaching. As head coach of the US U-17 National Team from 1985 through 1993, Roy Rees led the team to four consecutive appearances in the World Cup. Roy was an invaluable mentor to the Dallas Texans and was instrumental to our founding in 1993 and success as a club. His contribution to youth soccer in Texas is unmatched and the Dallas Texans would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Dallas Texans' 2012 European Tour

Visit to Dallas Texans Football Academy in Africa
Jun 12 2011 - Webmaster
Our club DOC, Hassan Nazari visited our newly signed affiliate in Ghana Africa recently. The five day visit was an overall success. The purpose of the visit was to meet Akordy Abingya, the president of Map Sports Management and Michael Teye Sogbodjor, the Director of Coaching for our football academy, the coaching staff and players. The trip included observing the training and matches, interacting with the coaches and meeting with the teams to discuss the Dallas Texans philosophy and the reasons we decided to branch into Africa.
